I'm honored to have won the Downbeat Student Awards!

The DownBeat Student Music Awards is one of the highest honors a high school jazz musician can hope for, and I'm incredibly thankful that this year I have been named the winner of the high school vocal division!

I submitted three songs, I'll Remember April, Autumn in New York, and Blues for Alice. Thanks to everyone who played on my audition and supported me this year! It's been a great one.

Bronze Medal from the Global Music Awards

I am so grateful to have received a Bronze Medal for "Jump" from the Global Music Awards! The GMAs are a worldwide organization honoring great music — "music's gold seal of approval," according to their website. I also want to extend a huge congratulations to Esperanza Spalding, who won Gold Best of Show. It's an honor to be in the same judging pool! Here's their site: http://www.globalmusicawards.com/index.html

The EP will be available online next Sunday, April 3, and I'll also be hosting a release party to celebrate at 4:30 PM at the California Jazz Conservatory, 2087 Addison St., Berkeley, CA. It's gonna be great!!

Here's a sneak peek of the new packaging for you:

I Won PDX Jazz Forward 2016!

Last Saturday, I was honored to have won the high school solo vocal competition at the PDX Jazz Forward festival, held at Portland State University. As part of the deal, I opened for the artists playing that night, which included Ravi Coltrane, Pharaoh Sanders, Geri Allen, Andrew Cyrille, and Reggie Workman to name a few! I'll also perform a full-length set at the 2017 Portland Jazz Festival.

Thanks to the judges and administrators of the competition — the sound was excellent and the whole experience was amazing.
